The week got away from you

A Weekly Reset in 5, 12, or 35 Minutes

By Calmstatic · Updated

A weekly reset doesn't need an hour. Pick the length that fits the energy you have, and let a short reset count as a full one.

Three lengths

These lengths are a suggested approach for this guide. The ADHD Life Operating System includes its own weekly reset worksheet; see the product page previews for what it contains.

  • 5 minutes — look at the next seven days on your calendar and write down the one thing that must not be missed.
  • 12 minutes — the five-minute version, plus clearing yesterday's loose notes into one list and choosing three priorities for the week.
  • 35 minutes — the twelve-minute version, plus a quick look at money, home, and people, and a note to next week's self.

A 12-minute reset, worked through

Fictional example

Calendar (3 min): parent evening Wed, deadline Fri, friend's birthday Sun.

Must not miss: the Friday deadline.

Loose notes (5 min): three sticky notes and a phone memo copied onto one list.

Three priorities (4 min): finish the draft by Thu, buy the birthday card, book the car service.

Making it stick

  • Attach it to something that already happens, like Sunday coffee or the Monday commute.
  • If you miss a week, do the five-minute version next time. Don't make up for the skipped one.
  • Keep the reset notes on one page you can find again, not scattered across apps.
